The opponent did not show up — when is it a walkover

Being present for a match

A team is present when its captain or manager submits the match lineup in the room. The time for this runs from the room opening, or from the scheduled match time if that is later — 15 minutes by default, but a tournament may set a different value. The countdown in the match bar shows the exact time.

Walkover by the clock

  • One team did not show up — when the time runs out, the team that is present gets the walkover. The platform posts it in the room together with the reason.
  • Neither team showed up — the system does not give a walkover to both sides at once; the match waits for the referee's decision.

An organizer can turn off walkovers by the clock in their tournament — then only the referee grants walkovers.

What to do while waiting for the opponent

Nothing — the clock runs by itself. If something is wrong (e.g. the opponent writes in the room that they have a technical problem), call the referee before the time runs out.

Walkovers and penalties

Not showing up for a match counts towards automatic penalties. Cannot play? Write in the match room and call the referee — that is better than silence.

CS2 match on a match server

There, joining the server also counts, and the time for it only starts once the server is ready. See CS2 match on a match server.
